Responsibilities: As noted. JOB SUMMARY: Primary responsibility for financially-related matters. Works directly with members of Senior Leadership as well as the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors to provide information and guidance. Oversees all Finance Department staff. Participates and provides leadership in the organization's continuous quality improvement efforts. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provides oversight of all financial reporting, ensuring that timely and accurate information is distributed to external and internal users in a timely manner. Oversees preparation and filing of annual tax reports in a timely manner. Provides guidance to program and administrative staff in understanding and interpreting financial information and statements. Analyzes pertinent financial information to provide timely decision-making information to staff, Senior Leadership and Board as required. Develops annual agency budget in conjunction with administrative and program staff. Develops all budgets for grants and funding sources within established deadlines. Participates in funding contract negotiations and provides ongoing oversight of grant and contract management, ensuring contract compliance and timely reporting. Provides assistance in contract and lease negotiations. Maintains current financial policies and procedures which ensure 1) the integrity of the agency's financial records and 2) compliance with all contractual and legal requirements. Provides recommendations to improve financial strength of The Children's Home through efforts to maximize revenue and minimize expenses. Manages and controls access to all external financial operating accounts. Performs investment statement reconciliations in a timely manner according to agency policy and provides investment information to the Board of Directors of The Children's Home Foundation. Selects, supervises and trains department program and support staff. Responsible for completing employee evaluations on those directly supervised and for ensuring that effective employee development, discipline and recognition programs are implemented within framework of The Children's Home's policies and procedures. Works with agency insurance carriers to maintain appropriate levels of insurance coverage for property damage and general liability. Responsible for overseeing annual financial statement audit, including the audit of 401(k) plan. Ensures that audit preparation is completed in a timely and accurate manner and ensures that all financial audit issues are addressed satisfactorily. Maintains agency financial records (including agreements and contracts) according to agency policy and program funding requirements. Serves as staff liaison in concert with the CEO to the Finance Committee in order to keep Board of Directors apprised of the organization's financial results and issues. Works within the philosophy,function and policies of The Children's Home, Inc. Attends meetings and conferences, as directed, participating in local non-profit management and leadership training opportunities, and involvement in local groups of non-profit accounting/finance professionals, on a regular basis. EMPLOYEES WILL BE REQUIRED TO PERFORM OTHER JOB RELATED MARGINAL DUTIES AS REQUIRED*** MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Education and Experience: Education: Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting from an accredited college or university. Master's degree in Accounting or Business Administration preferred. Experience: Should possess a minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including at least 3 years supervision, financial management, budgeting and senior management team experience in an organization with revenues in excess of $10 million. Preference will be given to those with specific non-profit experience. Must have experience in a computerized accounting, multi-cost center environment. Continuing Education Requirements: Maintains up to date financial management skills and knowledge. Completes continuing education requirements needed to maintain CPA license, if applicable. Licenses -and-amp; Certifications: CPA preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license with no record of criminal driving offense of license suspension. Must be insurable under CHI's current auto insurance policy.Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Must successfully complete and maintain FDLE clearance, Federal background and state criminal background check and sexual predator screening. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities * Ability to pull together and present information in a useful and easy to understand format targeted to the specific audience. * Ability to problem solve and work independently as well as part of a team. * Ability to delegate ongoing day to day department functions and focus on agency-wide financial issues. * Ability to juggle multiple priorities, prioritize work load and delegate tasks in order to ensure completion of deadlines in a timely manner. * Ability to perform complex mathematical calculations. * Ability to read, understand and comply with all agency contracts as they relate to financial processes. * Abilityto communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Ability to establish effective working relationships with clients, co-workers, supervisors and other individuals. Possess effective interpersonal skills. * Knowledge of current GAAP and FASB standards and internal controls. * Knowledge of agency's organizational structure, standard operating procedures, and policies. * Knowledge of Department of Children and Families rules and regulations regarding the care of children. * Knowledge of child abuse or neglect reporting procedures and methods.
