To provide employment for students from the metropolitan D.C. area while attending school and to assist with clerical/administrative/research functions in the agency. Please note that this program is intended for students residing in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area only. Our Regional offices maintain their own application files. Applicants interested in working for one of our Region or District offices should forward application materials directly to that office. Student applications will be referred as openings occur in these offices.

The SEC typically hires about 25 business students nationwide.

Responsibilities: Over the course of the ten-week program, students work with Commission staff on several projects particular to the specific Division or Office to which they are assigned. Students participate in seminars/workshops on various aspects of the federal securities rules and regulations. Past presentations have included: An Overview of Federal Securities Laws; Securities Fraud on the Internet; The SEC´s Investigative Process; Mergers and Acquisitions; and The SEC´s Examination Program.

Other Requirements: * Students must be U.S. citizens. * Relatives of current SEC employees are ineligible. * Students must have completed one year of graduate study by the beginning of the summer.
