Description:
Responsibilities: Chief Executive Officer Company:University of Cincinnati Research Institute Location:Cincinnati, OH The University of Cincinnati Research Institute (UCRI) invites nominations and applications for the position of Chief Executive Officer. The University of Cincinnati considers research a primary mission in addition to education and service to the community. UC and its affiliates topped $418 million in research funding in 2011. U.S. News and World Report placed the University on its up and coming university and Best National Universities lists. The Chronicle of Higher Education called UC a research heavyweight. Forbes magazine named UC one of the worlds most beautiful campuses, and the Princeton Review acknowledged UC as the only public institution in Ohio with green university standing. A business plan to develop UCRI was approved by the UC Board of Trustees on May 22, 2012. UCRI is an independent not-for-profit 501(c)(3) which serves three primary needs. The first is to serve industrial clients in need of services of the internationally recognized research collaborators at UC. The second is to provide an efficient mechanism for commercialization of a wide range of intellectual property originating at UC by faculty and students from all colleges and units through industry/commercial partnerships. The third is to provide cooperative learning experiences and opportunities for UC students with industry partners. The Chief Executive Officer will play an essential role in the central leadership and success of UCRI. Working collaboratively with the UCRI Board of Directors, the Vice President for Research at UC, University administrators, faculty, staff, and students, the Chief Executive Officer will facilitate and direct UCRIs research and discovery initiatives for both funded as well as unfunded efforts. Working with the Deans of their respective colleges, this individual will also identify and develop innovative research strategies to create a research-enriched learning experience for the Universitys students, faculty, and partners. Cultivating relationships between the University and its private, industry-based, and community-based partners will be a priority for the Chief Executive Officer. UCRI seeks an inspiring leader with intellectual breadth, strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated expertise in industry sponsored research-driven programs and policies, and experience leading complex teams and/or organizations. Extensive experience in industry, business or industry-university partnerships, with an understanding of how such partnerships fit with the mission and vision of a major public university as well as a demonstrated ability and willingness to seek out and engage business and industry in partnerships with colleges, units, faculty and students is preferred. The review process will begin at the end of January, 2013 and the position will remain open until a qualified candidate for Chief Executive Officer is named.
