Responsibilities: Girl Scouts of Utah is offering a fun and flexible unpaid internship working with the director of governance on a variety of projects to strengthen Girl Scouts of Utah’s organizational development and governance practices. Responsibilities include supporting the board of directors, strategic planning, and coordination of council business meetings. This internship opportunity is for any student or professional looking to obtain nonprofit administrative and governance experience and may be tailored to fit the intern’s goals. Accountabilities include:
•Drafting board meeting, board committee, and town meeting agendas, and other materials as directed; providing administrative support at these meetings
•Supporting the strategic planning team in planning and implementation efforts, and assisting with benchmark reporting to Girl Scouts of the USA
•Assisting with management of volunteer committee for annual corporate meeting planning
•Helping board subcommittee to create an advocacy plan by conducting research and other duties as directed
•Assisting with management and training of delegates and council-wide communication efforts

Other Requirements: •An interest in nonprofit work with a demonstrated initiative, positive attitude, and team player skills
•Strong interpersonal communications, writing, editing, research, and organizational skills
•Proficiency with Microsoft applications, e-mail, Internet, and databases
•Must be 18 years of age or older
•Effective time management skills with the ability to perform multiple tasks and meet deadlines, while being attentive to detail
•Demonstrated ability to undertake basic writing and research assignments, an understanding of basic governance structure and meeting management skills, and an ability to interact professionally with volunteers and to exercise good judgment
•Students or recent graduates from a college/university program in business, public administration, political science, or other related program; degree is not required
